Founder

Kate Wilusz’s career in and passion for financial planning began in 2004.  Over the course of two decades, Kate established a highly regarded financial advisory firm. She earned numerous accolades, including selections by Forbes and Barron’s as a top financial advisor both in-state and nationally. Kate emerged as a prominent figure in the Bay Area financial planning community, serving in leadership positions for the Financial Planning Association, UC Berkeley Extension’s Financial Planning Program and various pro bono efforts.

Kate’s expertise includes retirement planning, insurance analysis, employee benefits, tax strategies, education and estate planning. She also has extensive experience in portfolio management, equity compensation, executive benefits, investment real estate and small business topics. Kate’s life goal is to expand the reach and quality of financial planning to the next generation of clients and planners. Fiat Lux provides consulting service to local financial planners and firms.

Outside of work, Kate enjoys exploring redwood forests and coastal trails, traveling the globe, and adventures in her 1972 VW bus. She is fortunate to call both Sonoma County and San Francisco home. Kate is a proud graduate of Ursuline High School and a California Golden Bear.

After our initial discussion about your situation, Kate will assess compatibility and determine the most suitable level of service. She will then present the costs and outline the details of the proposed service engagement. For individual clients, most engagements involve a series of meetings to collect and analyze data, present a financial plan and take action to implement that advice, and then to present analysis and recommendations.

What It Cost

Comprehensive financial plans include cash flow analysis, cash management, education and major purchase planning, retirement planning, insurance analysis, and estate planning. Minimum fee for financial planning and asset management services is $6,000 per year with minimum assets under management of $500,000.
Enlightenment Hour
Bring your questions, account statements and relevant documents to a one-hour Zoom meeting. The meeting is designed to answer questions on one or two topics. A brief meeting summary and bullet-point list of action items will be provided after the meeting. This is an “Advice Only” engagement and the fee is $1,500.
Planning for the Golden Years
Family meeting designed to discuss and map out a proactive, positive, and agreed‑upon plan for an aging loved one. Topics include housing and changing care needs, in‑home support and potential transitions to facility‑based care, medical and estate planning wishes, and confirming supporting documents. The goal is to ensure plans are in place early to support family harmony, avoid economic and financial surprises, and create a path for dignified aging.
Financial Planning Coaching and Consulting – Advisor and Firm level
Financial planning is the foundation of our clients’ success and an advisor’s most meaningful value‑add. Advisors with an advanced, actionable, and referable planning program stand out as robo‑advising and low‑cost platforms expand. My coaching and consulting focus on helping advisors deliver planning that is high‑touch, referable, scalable, and truly competent. Costs vary by engagement type and duration.
